I draw to your attention this note below sent to all UK Parliamentarians in the SOAS “Influencing the Corridors of Power” series.
It seeks to describe what is and is not legally permissible in this war.
Further to the analysis in this note, Israel is the occupying power throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory: Gaza, East Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank. Israel’s military occupation in 1967 brought with it responsibilities for the welfare of non-combatants in that land under the Geneva Conventions. Those responsibilities have not changed.
